Samsung planning to increase Galaxy S26 Ultra initial production volume

Samsung planning to increase Galaxy S26 Ultra initial production volume

Samsung’s next non-foldable flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, are expected to offer very few hardware upgrades over the current ones. Despite that, the brand is said to launch them at a higher price than their predecessors. As a result, fewer people may buy these phones compared to the current models. Despite that, Samsung is planning to ramp up the initial production volume of the top-of-the-line model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, by almost 50%.

According to ET News, Samsung has increased the number of Galaxy S26 units it is planning to manufacture initially (in the first two months of its launch) from two million units to three million units. However, the total production volume will reportedly be the same. So, why is the brand planning to take this step when these phones are expected to sell in fewer numbers? Here's why.

The main reason Samsung will be offering the Galaxy S26 series at a higher price than the Galaxy S25 lineup is rising manufacturing costs, especially those of memory chips. The brand predicts that in the future, the memory prices will go even higher. It means that manufacturing the Galaxy S26 Ultra units later will cost the brand more than it is costing now.

To save itself from higher manufacturing costs, Samsung is planning to make more units of the Galaxy S26 Ultra initially. This step will ensure that the brand will be able to maintain the prices (or profit margins) for longer. The company is all set to launch the Galaxy S26 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow. Surprisingly, its unboxing video is already out.
